Craig Conway

LEAD BASEBALL INSTRUCTOR

Owned and operated by Craig Conway, well known and respected former professional player of the NJ Jackals, he knows what it takes to be successful.  While still holding the records for doubles and triples at Montclair State University, the All-Time hits leader is also in MSU’s Hall of Fame.  The 3-time All-American went on to win 3 championships in 5 seasons with the NJ Jackals, just after winning the NCAA Division III National Championship with Montclair in 2000. When Montclair State captured the 2000 title, Conway batted .400 with a nation-leading and school-record 27 doubles while driving in 75 runs. In 2001, he was named the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Male Athlete of the Year after he hit .446 and set a school record with 91 hits.

After finishing his professional career, Conway began coaching at Montclair State, directly alongside Norm Schoenig, an American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Hall of Fame inductee.  Becoming Associate Head Coach at MSU led Conway to more opportunities as he continued his coaching career as the Associate Head Coach for the Pioneers at William Paterson University.  In his 13 years as a coach, no team under Conway’s watchful eye had failed to make the playoffs.

With a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Montclair State and a Master’s degree in Coaching/Sport’s Education from Ohio University, Conway has set out to enhance the quality of coaching, preparing the body and mind to focus on the game. He believes the lessons learned on the field transpire into everyday life and it is important to teach how to cope and develop confidence against failure and adversity.

With a mentality of “always wanting more,” Conway pursued a coaching career to give back to our youth through his passion, America’s Pastime.  After coaching 13 years at the collegiate level, his personal goal is to assist young athletes in following the proper developmental steps to play at the next level.
